Ethel M. French, 101, passed from this world on March 3 at 6:18 a.m. She was born on September 25, 1911 to Roscoe and Flossie Leeth Massie. In the summer of 1932, she married Howard E. French.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn A. and Ellsworth Wright; a son, Donald E. French; and her oldest granddaughter, Debbie L. Yingling. She was the last of 7 siblings, having lost 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
Ethel is survived by two sons, Howard Neal French, of Chillicothe and Lowell E. (Marla) French, of Londonderry; 11 grandchildren; and several great and great great grandchildren.
Ethel was a long time resident of Richmond Dale until her admission to Traditions of Chillicothe in 2008. She retired in 1973 from Southeastern High School where she worked as a cook. Ethel was a member of the Richmond Dale Baptist Church and a long time member of the Richmond Dale Rebekah Lodge.
Ethel will long be remembered by her family for the beautiful quilts she enjoyed making and the delicious pies she baked.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME. A graveside committal service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013 in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale. Friends may call at Ware’s from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to one’s favorite charity.
