Robert W. Dispennett, 96, of Chillicothe, died 6:45 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born May 4, 1916, near Robinson, IL, the only child of the late Everett and Sarah Mae Hawkins Dispennett. He was preceded in death by his first wife the former Ruth Nash who died August 28, 1975 and second wife, the former Elizabeth Boyd who died April 17, 2007. He was also preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Mike Renison.
Surviving are a daughter, Sally Stein, of Olmsted Twp, OH; a son, Maurice (Susie) Dispennett, of Cranberry Twp, PA; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; and a step great great grandson.
Bob was a 1934 graduate of Robinson Township High School in Illinois and a 1938 graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology where he received a BS in Chemical Engineering. Bob retired in July of 1977 from the former Alcoa / WearEver Aluminum. During his time in Chillicothe, he spent much time working for the Walnut Street United Methodist Church and Goodwill Industries. At age 92, he enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity / New Orleans and once a month up until the month he died he volunteered at Care Outreach in McArthur, Ohio. During his retirement he visited all 50 states. Bob enjoyed his retirement.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013 in the Walnut Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Lori Lossie officiating. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
