Eulah Maxine McKee Oyer, 90, passed away peacefully and quickly from a stroke on May 13, 2019, at Adena Medical Center.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 11, 1928, to the late Harold W. and Katherine McKee (Bethel).
Eulah was a devoted wife and mother who created a home atmosphere of unconditional love. She shared her talents at sewing and cooking (ham gravy was her specialty) with loved ones. She was utterly giving of herself to many of the community, including working at the election polls for nearly 45 years and volunteering at Huntington Hall to raise funds for the fire station. She was *always* available to lend a hand whenever asked, and to many, will be the most empathetic person they will ever be lucky and privileged enough to encounter. Her family heard and experienced many inspiring stories of selflessness, and will always remember how she worried about everyone else but herself, yet was quick to chuckle and laugh.
She is preceded in death by brothers Harold S. “Fibber”, Charlie, Gary, Richard and sister Frieda McKee. She was a “great and good lady” who will be sorely missed by family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband, Russell, of 72 years; aunt, Edna Richter Carter; daughter, Vicki Oyer Dixon; son Dan (Candy) Oyer; granddaughter, Valerie Lockard, and grandsons, Joshua and Cody; as well as many great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2019 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Rick Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Huntington Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday.
