UPDATE: MEMORIAL SERVICE DETAILS

A celebration of life will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, September 14th, 2024 in the Eagles Lodge 600 on Douglas Avenue in Chillicothe, Ohio.  Please bring pictures, stories, and memories to remember Tony who we all also knew as, "Casper".  Although the grief we feel for the unexpected passing of Tony has been tough, it is time to celebrate the remarkable life he lived.  Light refreshments will be served.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved family member, Anthony Earl Atwood, who unexpectedly left us on Friday, June 21, 2024.  He was 63 years old.

Tony, or Casper as he was called by family and friends, was born to the late Hazel E. (Calvin) Mercer and Melvin Atwood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents, John and Audrey Stoneburner and Jack and Mabel Atwood.

Surviving are his fiancé, Susan Pridgen; daughter, Holly Davidson; grandchildren, Richard, Aquavalon and Tylea; sisters, Amanda (Robert) Bellar, Sondra (James Worthrow) Reno, Ronelle (Greg) Wolford and Hillary Mercer; brothers, Rick (Lisa) Atwood, Edgar (Phyllis) Mercer, Calvin (Kari) Mercer; and several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tony was a 1979 graduate of Chillicothe High School.  He was a member of the Columbus Carpenters Union and was a certified truck driver, a certified fork lift operator, a poet, a songwriter, a great storyteller and was a jack of all trades.

He also received a Humanitarian Award from Cold Iron Concessions in 1998, had a love for crazy hats, his family and his many fur babies.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME in Chillicothe, Ohio.
