"He does not seek applause; his reward lies in the happiness of those around him. His goodness is not a facade; it is imprinted into the fabric of his being—such a good man with a great spirit."
Chad Lee Mills, 53, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away Friday, October 9, 2026, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio.
He was born January 4, 1973, in Chillicothe, Ohio to Jeanie (Darrel) Brintlinger, of Grove City and Gary Mills, of Chillicothe, both whom survive.
Also surviving are his wife, Heather Mills; children, Taylor (Wes) Hurley, Erin (Colt) Morris, Halle (Gage) Bray, Nick Mills and his wife, Laney Woods-Mills, and Logan Knauff; brother, TC (Madison) Mills; grandchildren, Carson and Izzy Hurley, Vivian Morris, Jude Bray, and Everley Knauff; nephew, Braxton Mills; and nieces, Bella and Brylee Mills.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bonnie and Lacy Gilkeson; paternal grandparents, Paul “Jack” and Pat Mills; uncles, Russell Gilkeson, Harold Gilkeson and Terry Mills; and by his stepmother, Bonnie Mills.
Chad was very outgoing and loved sharing memorable experiences with his wife, such as attending Ohio State football games, concerts, and Halloween festivities, along with too many others to mention. Spending time with friends and family was something he loved to do, and they loved spending time with him. His unmistakable sense of humor included endless witty jokes that he enjoyed regularly sharing with others.
Chad was always in a good mood, as evidenced by his enduring positive outlook on life. He took great pride in his home and great care of his family, always doing anything and everything he could for them.
Chad treated Heather with extraordinary love and respect, always making her feel cherished, valued, and like gold. She will miss routinely receiving the “Good morning. I love you.” text message that Chad delivered to her every day for eight years.
Chad loved all of his children and shared a special relationship with Logan, serving as a loving and supportive dad in his life. Chad especially enjoyed spending time with Everley, to whom he was a proud “Pap.” Piddles, Chad’s special cat, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond, will miss him dearly.
Chad was a hard worker, and he was immensely respected by his co-workers throughout his life. He built a distinguished career within the construction industry and was employed with Elford Inc. as a Superintendent at the time of his passing. He was a graduate of Huntington High School.
Chad never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and his character touched countless lives. His generosity was genuine, his kindness came naturally, and the impact he made on the lives of those who knew him will not be forgotten.
