Charles B. "Charlie" Peters, 78, of Chillicothe, passed at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born, March 27, 1945, in Ross County, to the late Troy and Wilma Nokes Peters. On October 20, 1962, he married the former Marguerite Daniel who survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Debby (Bill) Gumm, of Londonderry, Cheryl Holman, of Chillicothe and Lisa (Timothy) Giles, of Newark; a son, Charles T. "Chuck" Peters, of Richmond Dale; 15 grandchildren including special grandsons, Adam Peters and Steven Gozy, whom he raised; numerous great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter who is on the way; sisters, Roberta Settles, of Chillicothe and Velma (John) Mozzetti, Chicago, IL; brother, Bill Daniel, of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lori Peters; a grandson, Jamie Lee Gozy; a granddaughter, Candy Daniel; and a brother, Floyd Peters.
Charlie attended Southeastern High School, then went on to become a heavy equipment operator for Shelley and Sands, from where he retired. After retiring he continued to work as a driver for the Amish Community for many years. Charlie was a cherished soul whose love for his family and friends knew no bounds. He was married to the love of his life for 61 years. His love and affection extended even to the animal kingdom, where he found such joy and happiness among all animals including his exotic animals that he raised. Charlie's passion for crafting was evident in every masterpiece he created, a testament to his creative spirit and incredible imagination. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME. There will be no funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ware Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
