Charles Haven Kolb III was born on September 29, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland.

He attended West Virginia University, where he studied Forestry, but found his true calling in education. He dedicated his career to serving generations of students as an elementary school principal, retiring from Tiffin Elementary School in Chillicothe, Ohio. Although he spent many years in West Virginia, he made southern Ohio his home for the latter half of his life, living in Waverly before settling in Chillicothe.

Charles was a very proud father and grandfather and often bragged about the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by seven children: Megan Marston (Mike), Heidi Figiel (Todd), Kacie Lee (Matt), Sarah Wilkening (Andrew), Jacob Kolb, Zack Kolb, and Elaina Kolb; and 14 grandchildren: Emma and Hannah Marston; Stephen, Bryan, and Mila Figiel; Declan and Shelby Lee; Abigail, Ethan, Samuel, Anneliese, and Sophie Wilkening; and Geo and Gray Kolb.

He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Zafiris and Jessie Kolb. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Haven Kolb II and Mary Ann (Douglas) Kolb, and by his sister, Lisa Vicari. Charles deeply admired his parents, adored his sisters, and often spoke with great fondness about his childhood.

Charles found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved the quiet beauty of the countryside, dabbling in gardening and small construction projects, his beloved dogs, and long drives. He delighted in uncovering the history and little-known facts behind the places he visited. Conversations with him often turned into interesting lessons or stories of unexpected adventures. Many of his family's favorite memories are of his playful antics. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Obadiah Harris officiating. Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday.
