Darrell E. Lechner, 82, of Chillicothe, passed at 7:38 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 in National Church Residences, Chillicothe following an extended illness.

He was born April 5, 1941, in Chillicothe, to the late Eugene and Katherine Riley Lechner.  In March of 1962, he married the former Suzanne Ackley who passed November 29, 2022.

Surviving are children, David (Kim) Lechner and Darlla (Brad) Holdren, both of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Jacy Lechner, Kassadee (Teagan) McFadden, Ryan (Angela) Holdren, all of Chillicothe and Chad (Lindsey) Holdren, of Columbus; great grandchildren, Quincy Lechner and CJ, Lilly and Seth Holdren; a brother, Mikey Lechner, of Chillicothe; and his faithful companion, his cat, Miss Kitty.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Carol Ann Rhoades.

Darrell retired in 1998 from DuPont where he had worked for over 30 years.  He was a life member of F.O.E. Aerie 600.  Darrell was a car enthusiast and enjoyed working outside in his yard.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME.  Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
