Obituary

Donald E. Morris, 90, of Chillicothe, passed 4:25 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2023 in Greenfield Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation following an extended illness.

He was born December 5, 1932, in Clarksburg, OH, to the late Vernal L. and Ruth Hudson Morris.  On August 23, 1958, he married the former Mary Calhoun who passed October 9, 2020.

Surviving are a son, Mark (Robin) Morris, of Springfield; a daughter, Jodie Augustine, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Colleen (David) Mollema, of Japan, Brandon (Chasidy) Morris, Lindsey Morris, both of Springfield, Zachary (Denise) Augustine, of Indiana, Allie Augustine, of Chillicothe; and 11 great grandchildren.

Don was a 1950 graduate of Unioto High School and had attended Clarksburg Schools until his senior year.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  Recently, he was afforded the honor of traveling to Washington D.C. from the Honor Flight Columbus Mission #80.  Don retired from the Mead in 1996.  Don was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of Scioto Lodge #6 F&AM, the Ross County Shrine Club, the Scottish Rite and the Aladdin Temple Shrine of Columbus. He was also a member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church, Chillicothe O.E.S. Chapter 419, AMVETS Post 4, American Legion 757 and the Clarksburg Grange.

Don and his wife, Mary were founding members of the Tecumseh Ramblers of the Holiday Rambler Travel Club where they enjoyed many years of camping with many of their friends.    He, along with his "true love", loved to travel.  They had been to all 50 states, 23 countries in Europe and to most of Canada.

A masonic service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2023 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME.  His funeral, with Pastor Kay Austin officiating, will start immediately following the conclusion of the masonic service on Monday.  Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
