E. Neil Uhrig, 86, of Chillicothe, passed at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, February 25, 2024 in Hospice of Central Ohio, Columbus, Ohio, following a brief illness.

He was born July 27, 1937, in Ross County, to the late Lloyd A. and Mildred L. Shoemaker Uhrig.  On June 29, 1956, he married the former Joy Shoults who passed January 5, 2016.  On July 10, 2016, he married the former Marilyn (Walls) Uhrig who survives.

Also surviving are a son-in-law, Rick Gallaugher, of Frankfort; Steve (Reva) Uhrig, Mark (Joy) Uhrig, Tim (Pam) Uhrig, Christy (Mike) Leslie, all of Chillicothe and Sarah (Todd) Alley, of Canton, OH; grandchildren, Evan (Rebekah) Gallaugher, Leslie (Chris) Younge, Michelle (Chad) Diehl, all of Chillicothe, and Doug Uhrig, of Waynesville, OH; great grandchildren; Maddie Diehl, Porter, Emory Joy and Ainsley Uhrig, Anna Jo and Trenton Gallaugher, and Brock and Spencer Joy Younge; a brother, Oscar (Sally) Uhrig; sisters, Sandy Uhrig and Gail (Grover) Dresbach; a sister-in-law, Vickie Uhrig; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Scott Uhrig; a daughter, Teri Jo Gallaugher; a brother, Mike Uhrig; and a sister, Catherine "Kate" Hannigan.

Neil was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing sports.  He played basketball and softball at Huntington High School and on various local teams.  He retired from Mead Central Research.  Neil attended Bethel Chapel Christian Union Church.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating.  Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
