Elwood Louis Haddox, 86, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, September 18, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.

Elwood was born on July 2, 1937, in Vinton County, to the late Rev. Clarence and Annie Freidenmaker Haddox.  On July 21, 1956, he married the love of his life, the former Joyce Elaine Tackett who survives.  Together they celebrated 67 years and created a beautiful family of 3 kids, 5 grandkids and several great grandkids.

Elwood is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, Neal Haddox; grandsons, Arrick and BJ Jones, Greg (April) Haddox, Bryce (Britney) Haddox and papaws special granddaughter, Hope Elaine.  Also surviving are his former daughter-in-law, Brandee Park Haddox; several great grandchildren; and siblings, Sue (Jim) Caudill and Wilford (Loretta) Haddox.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Neal and Frozie Tackett; children, Brenda Ann and Gregory Louis; and 7 brothers and sisters.

Elwood retired from Chilpaco Paper Mill after 41 years of service.  He was a lover of John Deere, country music and traveling to Hawaii with his Joyce.

Elwood was one of the founders of the Ross County Ramblers who sang and played across Ohio for 40 plus years.  He also helped found the Union Township Fire Department many years ago.

Elwood has many loved ones and friends who will terribly miss him and look forward to hearing him sing one day in the Angel Band.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2023 in Rowland Cemetery with Willis and Stella Hamilton and Charles Tackett officiating.  There will be no calling hours.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
