Elwyn E. "Buck" Ray, 86, of Ray passed away 12:38 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at Holzer Jackson Medical Center.

He was born May 19, 1937 in Vinton County to the late Floyd and Muriel (Truman) Ray.  On May 20, 1956 he married Mary M. "Merchie"  Kight, who preceded him in death February 15, 1988.

Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Marcus and Brenda Ray, of Ray; grandsons, Clayton and Brandon Ray; great grandsons, Eli and Briar Ray; brother, Bruce (Penny) Ray, of Hamden; sisters, Lenora "Sue" Jarvis and Donna Mavis, both of Chillicothe; many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by brothers, Floyd "Bud" and Francis; sisters, Doris, Eloise, Louise, Inez and Margaret.

Buck was an avid coon hunter.  He also enjoyed riding motorcycles (dirt and road), and singing in church and nursing homes.  Buck attended Corinth church in Ray.  He retired from Commercial Motor Freight.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Reverend Jim McFadden officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Jackson, Ohio.  Friends and family may call from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday.
