Obituary

Ethel Ann "Skip" Hathaway Givens, 92, of Frankfort, passed 4:45 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 in Signature Healthcare of Chillicothe following an extended illness.

She was born July 5, 1930, in Frankfort, Ohio, to the late Everett and Bertha Haynes Van Meter.

Surviving are sons, Mark (Sherri) Hathaway, of Frankfort; a step daughter, Sara (Art) Willis, of Los Gatos, CA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis Paxton, of Kingston, OH; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.  She was predeceased by her first husband, John G. Hathaway, who passed September 29, 1995, second husband, Norman Givens, who passed May 13, 2011, sons, Edgar D. Hathaway and Michael J. Hathaway; and a brother, David Van Meter.

Skip was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and had worked as an Art Teacher at Bishop Flaget High School.  In addition, Skip had also owned several art studios in Chillicothe over the years.  She was a member of the Ross County Civil Air Patrol and was a 1st Lieutenant at the former Mead Rifle and Pistol Club.  Skip believed that the 3 most important things in life are art, flying and shooting firearms.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant.  Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
