Franklin "Buck" Doyle, Jr., 84, of Middleburg, FL, passed at 6:19 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born January 21, 1942, in Chillicothe, to the late Franklin Sr. and Cora M. Stubbs Doyle.
Surviving are a daughter, Teria M. "Sis" Doyle, of Chillicothe; a son, Robin S. "Bubby" Doyle, of Chillicothe and bonus daughter, Middy McClure, of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Charli M. (Hunter) Hightower, of Chillicothe, Britini G. Doyle, of Alpharetta, GA, Blake F. (Maranda) Doyle, of Ridgeland, SC and Joseph Xander Tatum (Doyle), of Middleburg, FL; great grandchildren, Holden Hightower, Harper Hightower, Hayden Hightower and Hadley Hightower, Beaux Grace Doyle and Ellie Doyle; daughter-in-law and caregiver, Katherine "Katie" Doyle, of Middleburg, FL; a brother, Gregory "Zeke" Doyle, of West Virginia; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; many supportive cousins; many friends including a childhood friend, Jerry Banks, of Florida and special neighbors, Tom and Chrissy Brooks, of Middleburg, FL. He was predeceased by wives, Helen Doyle, Marilyn "Peaches" Doyle and Judy Doyle; a son, Brian "Bo" Doyle; a sister, Barbara Doyle Wardell; and many loving aunts and uncles.
Franklin, a Master Chief Aircraft Maintenance Man, retired from the United States Navy following 21 years of active duty service. Following retirement from the Navy, he furthered his education to become a certified teacher, starting out teaching junior high students in workshop and later teaching pre-kindergarten – 3rd grade. Franklin eventually went on to teach special education, a job that he loved dearly. He was a longtime mason and member of Middleburg Masonic Lodge No. 107 F&AM where he helped to found the "Fingerprint Child ID Program" in Florida which helped to keep kids safe. Buck was an avid bass fisherman, enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many years and also enjoyed raising and training homing pigeons, a skill his father taught him.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with his uncle, William Stubbs officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the WARE FUNERAL HOME where a Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m.
