Obituary

Gary R. DeCamp, 84, of Chillicothe passed 5:05 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2026 at the Adena Regional Medical Center.

He was born January 21, 1942 in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Howard Jr. and Onita Wainscott DeCamp. On August 30, 1963, he married the former Janet Seymour who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Joy (Steven) Brooks, of Circleville; a son, Kris (Jenny) DeCamp, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Olivia Brooks, Eryn DeCamp, Meghan (Matthew) Rojas, Garrett Brooks, Jaren Lower, Karson DeCamp, Jase Lower; and a brother Terrance DeCamp, of Chillicothe. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nolan and Helen Seymour.

In 2002, Gary retired from the Mead Corporation. He was a member of Real Joy Community Fellowship where he served as a Deacon and a Greeter. Gary was also a member of Scioto Lodge #6 F&AM and U.P.I.U. Local 988. He enjoyed enduro riding, rode annually in the TOSRV, enjoyed weight lifting and fitness training.

He spent over 40 years perfecting his street rod and enjoyed attending car shows where he experienced a lot of success.

More than anything, Gary loved his family. Especially his grandchildren who were the apples of his eye.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2026 in Real Joy Community Fellowship with Pastor Tony Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
