Harold Eugene "Gene" Wheeler, 82, of Chillicothe, died at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Legacy Nursing Home where he was a resident for several years.

He was born October 6, 1941, in Pike County.

Harold was predeceased by his mother, Martha Ann Wheeler and his father, Henry Wheeler.  On October 20, 1962, he married the former Retha Ann Elliott who passed on May 23, 2013.  Harold is survived by a sister, Karen Armstrong, of Sacramento, CA; a son, Larry E. (Melissa "Missy", Deceased) Wheeler; grandsons, Joshua, Gabriel and Seth Wheeler; and a granddaughter, Larah Wheeler, all of Chillicothe.

Harold worked as a Union Laborer for many years before becoming disabled.  He was an avid outdoorsman and was always fishing and hunting with family and friends every chance he got.

Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Saturday, June 8, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Keith Boothe officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday.
