Obituary

Helen E. (Hollis) Wolf, 95, passed to her rest on Friday, October 13, 2023, at home with her four daughters at her side.  She was born on October 20, 1927, to Charles E. and Clara Flack Hollis who also proceeds her in death.  On November 28, 1948, she married Bernard "Bunk" L. Wolf who proceeded her in death in March, 1981.  Together they shared four daughters who survive, Lora C. Weaver, Lisa J. DeGarmo, Gina M. (Hans) Click and Nila A. Barrows, all of Chillicothe.

Helen was the baby of the Hollis family and last survivor of her siblings, Ruth (Paul) Francis, Bud (Faye) Hollis, Beatrice (Carl) Lee, Norma Jean (Orland) Hough and a sister Madalyn who passed at a young age of polio.

Helen grew up during the Great Depression.  She worked with her father at the grocery store he owned on the corner of Riverside and Mulberry Streets.  They didn't have much, but they always had what they needed and were always willing to share with others.  Helen was quite the entertainer.  Growing up, she enjoyed movies, dancing, singing and was a majorette at J.A. Smith High School.  Her love and compassion for animals knew no bounds.  She rescued many dogs and cats throughout her life.

Helen was a sales person at heart.  She was the first woman in Chillicothe to start and lead a successful Tupperware sales team.  She also worked at J.C. Penny's selling furniture and appliances.  She finished up her career in sales at the Lloyds Sweet Shop.

Her most important job was being a mother, grandma and great-grandma (nana).  She leaves behind grandsons, Harrison L. DeGarmo and Elliott J. (Danielle) Barrows and Ryan P. Click who proceeded her in death in 1986.  Great grandchildren Skyler M., Quentin P. and Brooklyn R. DeGarmo.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME.  Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Adena Hospice for the care and compassion extended to our mother during her illness.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ross County Humane Society, Purrfect Companions or Adena Hospice of Chillicothe.
