James L. Manis, 66, of Chillicothe, passed Thursday, October 19, 2023 at the V.A. Medical Center following an extended illness.

He was born May 31, 1957 in Ross County to Lynn and Alice (Bowman) Manis.

Surviving are, in addition to his mother, Alice Pierce, of Chillicothe; children, James Eric Manis, of Kingston and John Manis, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Wesley and Katelynn Manis; former wife and the mother of his children, Jessie Taylor, of Chillicothe; sister, Christina (Tom) Reinsmith, of Chillicothe; a niece and two nephews.  He was predeceased by father, Lynn Manis; brother, Paul Manis; step-father, John Pierce.

James was a self-employed contractor.  He served his country in the United States Army.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Ware Funeral Home 121 W. Second St., Chillicothe, OH 45601 to assist with expenses.

Visitation will be held 5 – 7 pm Monday, October 23, 2023 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
