James L. Reynolds, 85, of Chillicothe, passed 9:55 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 in Grant Medical Center, Columbus, unexpectedly.

He was born March 5, 1938, in Pickaway County, Ohio, to the late Oscar R. and Marguerite Mowery Reynolds.  On October 19, 1963, he married the former Mary Frances Jernigan who passed August 24, 2020.

Surviving are a son, Dean L. (Debbie) Reynolds, of Chillicothe; a daughter, Lisa Marie (David) Baker, of St. Johns, FL; grandchildren, Jennifer (Benjamin) Ward, Logan J. (Halee) Reynolds, Mary Ellen (Nick) Hooks and Megan (Jeff) Strausbaugh; great grandchildren, Lyla and Griffin Hooks and Lily and Lincoln Ward; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Lauragene Kunz and Ruth Elaine Hutchinson.

James was a former member of Walnut Street United Methodist Church.  He was the Owner and President of Scioto Oil Co. for 38 years.  He was a member of the Ohio Petroleum Marketers Association.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Matthew Roe officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday.
