Jan G. Sands, 76, of Chillicothe, passed 5:50 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

He was born June 3, 1946 in Bucyrus to the late Gilbert and Lorraine Cronin Sands.  On September 5, 1981 he married the former Judith A. Jordan who survives him.

Also surviving are daughters, Pam Sands of Ashville and Stephanie Sands of Chillicothe; step-children, David (Kim) Davidson of Florida, Lena (Don) Murray of Waverly and Lori (Chad) Arnold of Washington C.H.; many grandchildren and many great grandchildren; sister, Charlotte Jones of Canton; many nieces and nephews and his best friend, Frank "Gene" (Pam) Seymour of Chillicothe.  He was predeceased by daughters, Mary Sands and Brandy Davidson; infant step-granddaughter, Chasity Davidson; mother and step-father, Lorraine and Cecil Wilson; father, Gilbert Sands; brother, Robert Sands; sister, Elaine Craig and best friend, Ron Newman.

Jan retired from Chillicothe Correctional Institute.

Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Friday, April 14, 2023 at WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Friends and family may call from 10 a.m.  – 12 Noon prior to the service.
