Jannie M. Bentley, 85, of Waverly passed 12:35 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2023 at her residence following a brief battle with cancer.

She was born February 19, 1938 in Van Lear, Kentucky to the late William H. and Gertie Wright Cantrell.  On September 18, 1953 she married James W. Bentley who preceded her in death on December 15, 2012.

Surviving are daughters, Brenda K. Shoemaker of Chillicothe and Lesa A. Adamson of Waverly; daughter-in-law, Martha Bentley of Chillicothe; 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Ina Davis of Chillicothe and Ethel Perry of KY; brother, Robert (Rose) Cantrell of Mansfield; many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by son, Waymon Bentley, son-in-law, John Shoemaker; great grandson, Russell Leach; sisters, Helen Hurley and Loretta Cruze and brothers, Frank and Jimmy Cantrell

Jannie was a member of McKibben Chapel and was a homemaker for her family.

Funeral services will be held 10  a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Mike Whitley officiating.  Burial will follow in the Huntington Township Cemetery.  Friends and family may call from 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday.
