Jean K. Harper, 84, of Chillicothe, passed 6:36 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at her residence following a brief illness.

She was born November 2, 1938, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Pearl and Helen Cox Rodgers.  On August 11, 1962, she married Harold George Harper who passed June 19, 2017.

Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Stephens, of Columbus; a son, Jeff (Kathy) Harper, of Cleveland; grandchildren, Sara Stephens, Angela Harper and Natalie Harper; a sister, Linda (Gary) Altoff, of Virginia; a brother, Frank (Darlene) Rodgers, of Virginia; a niece, Carrie Decker; and a nephew, David Decker.  She was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Rodgers.

Jean was a 1957 graduate of Chillicothe High School and received her Bachelor's of Music Education from Capital University in 1961.  She taught instrumental music at Fairborn City Schools from 1961 to 1964.  Jean then worked as a substitute teacher in Ross County Schools from 1965 to 1967.  She retired from Kmart in Chillicothe where she had worked for over 20 years.  Jean was a longtime member of the Great Seal of Ohio Band and the No Name Book Club.

Family and friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon Monday, July 10, 2023.  A graveside service, with Fr. Milton Kiocha officiating, will follow the calling hours and will begin at approximately 12:45 p.m. on Monday in St. Margaret Cemetery.
