Jimmie N. "Mooch" Tackett, Jr., 68, of Chillicothe, passed on October 5, 2025 at his residence unexpectedly.
He was born, November 17, 1956, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Jimmie N. Sr. and Virginia E. Howson Tackett.
Surviving are his mother, Virginia E. McWhorter, of Jackson; daughter, Shawna (Jimmy) Rogers, of Greenville, TX; grandsons, Seth (Janessa) Martin, of Forney, TX and Aden Martin, of Greenville, TX; great grandchildren, Valentina, Atticus, Leighton, Everlyn and Dakota; a brother, Lindsey (Tracy) Tackett; sister, Jeanette (Scot) Harris; nieces and nephews, April, Amanda, Leland, Paul and Will and their families; several aunts; an uncle; great nieces and great nephews; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents; a grandson, Gage Dakota Hope; his father, Jimmie N. Tackett, Sr.; and his step father, Delbert "Deb" McWhorter.
Jim attended Southeastern High School and Pickaway Ross JVS's Welding Program.
From an early age, his one true passion in life had been his love of music and playing his drums. He had been a member of several bands throughout the years. Most of his life he was self-employed, but had worked for Borden Burger, Chillicothe Iron & Metal and White Laundry, to name a few. He had done carpentry and concrete work throughout the Tri-State area, and travelled the Atlantic Coast as a band member, playing drums to the tip of Florida. That adventure ended at the Gulf of Mexico where he became a hand on a fishing boat. He enjoyed leather working, gardening and sharing his produce with others. Jim lived his life as he desired, not conforming to society, but, he did it his way.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service or calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ware Funeral Home.
