John M.
"Mike" Meyer
Aug 11, 1954 — Oct 15, 2023
John M. Meyer, known as "Mike" to his friends, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 15, 2023 with his family by his side. He was 69 years old. He was born August 11, 1954, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina to Paul P. and Donna (McHenry) Meyer. He is survived by his sons Michael (Candice) Meyer of Peyton CO, and David Meyer of Chillicothe; grandsons Noah Meyer and Mikie Paul Meyer; brother Paul J. "Jeff" (Ginny) Meyer of Houston; sisters Kris (Brad) Baker of Chillicothe, and Lisa (Brett Friedman) Meyer of Columbus; and stepmother Connie Sue Meyer of Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Meyer and Donna Nickerson, his life partner Cathy Cottrill-Craig, and his beautiful daughter Katie.
Mike was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He lived most of his life in Ross County, preferring the countryside where he could garden, build barns, run his dogs, and drive his golf cart. He was always a hard worker, starting out his career as a paper boy on Brewer Heights and retiring from B&B Roofing about 10 years ago.
Mike was an avid storyteller, sharing his life experiences such as hitchhiking across the country with his buddy Mike Radebaugh, and riding bikes to Greenfield and back with Barry Barnes in junior high. In his younger days, he enjoyed water skiing with his dad and brother on Lake White. He later loved camping and became an expert mushroom hunter. One of his favorite places in the world was Hocking Hills.
Mike knew how to have fun and vacationed often with his partner Cathy in Las Vegas. They were always off on another road trip to Florida to visit his sons, daughter, and grandsons, whom he loved dearly.
Our hearts are broken that Mike is gone, but we are comforted knowing that he's finally at peace. Per his wishes, there will be no service. Arrangements are being handled by WARE FUNERAL HOME.
