Joy A. Neff, 83, of Chillicothe passed 7:40 a.m. Saturday May 20, 2023

at her home following an extended illness.

She was born March 22, 1940 in Ross County to the late Frank and Virgie (Newland) Johnson.  On July 13, 1979 she married Leon Neff who survives.

Also surviving are children, Leila Doles and Tammy Tyler both of Chillicothe and Kristine (Michael) Huff of Dayton; grandchildren, Dusty, Emmylou, Nicolette (James), Stephie (Hoyt), Max Jack, Jacob, Larry, Frankie, Megan (Larry), Justine and Adam (Maria); sister, Gale McNeal of Chillicothe; brothers, Darrell (Ruth) Johnson and Wendell Johnson both of Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Tereasa  Nelson of Chillicothe; special cousin, Janet Traylor of Chillicothe; and her little dog, Princess.  She was predeceased by sons, Max "Eddie" Bostwick and Perry Neff, sister, Evelyn Michaels and brother, Marlin Johnson.

Joy was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.  Joy was a woman of strong faith and her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her loving Lord and Savior.  She loved her husband and enjoyed the many trips they took together.  Joy thought the world of her family and loved them unconditionally.  She enjoyed cooking big family dinners and was known for having a green thumb.  We will miss Joy's sense of humor and laughter, and her strength, courage and faith will forever inspire us.

The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to National Church Residences private duty staff and hospice.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday May 26, 2023 at WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Ryan Bevans officiating.  Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery.  Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. prior to the service on Friday.
