Larry E. Conaway died on September 17, 2026, in Bermuda Commons Nursing Home in Advance, NC after a brief illness.

He was born in Ross County to the late Francis “Bill” Conaway and Edna Mae Conaway on September 9, 1942. He is survived by his daughter, Stacey Conaway in Thomasville, NC his son, Greg Conaway in Durham, NC and his grandchildren, Theo and John in Durham, NC.

He worked in the Education field in some form or fashion his entire career. It took him from Ohio to Georgia to Michigan to Colorado and finally to NC. He is remembered by family and friends as a teacher to many through his coaching or assistant coaching in tennis, soccer and basketball. They have also said he loved to have fun and had a great sense of humor. He also really loved his Carolina Hurricanes Hockey!

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 11 a.m. in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of WARE FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Hospice Care Center in his memory.
