Larry Jay Montgomery, 81, of Chillicothe, passed at 6:54 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Brown Memorial Home, Circleville following an extended illness.

He was born January  23, 1943, in Pike County, Ohio, to the late Prater and Ordna Pelfrey Montgomery.  On September 6, 1964, he married the former Eleanor June Bethel who passed November 3, 2019.

Surviving are a son, Kevin (Christa) Montgomery, of Chillicothe; a daughter, Michele (Jerry) Goshorn, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Zachariah Montgomery, Venessa (Tyler) Atwood, Gabrielle (fiance, Drew Davis) Goshorn and Savana Goshorn; great grandchildren, Avynn Montgomery, Flynn Atwood, Adalynn Atwood, Madalynn Atwood and Kevin Atwood; sisters, Nola Murray, Sue Powell, both of Chillicothe Lou (Clyde) Powell, of Jackson, Pam (Steve) Foster, of Jeffersonville and Lynn (Bill) Digges, of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Lola and Herb Fitzpatrick and brothers-in-law, Frank Murray and Bernard Powell.

Larry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He retired from Kenworth Truck Company where he had worked for over 30 years and had also worked for Alcoa and WearEver.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, July 19, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Doug Campbell officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Visitation for family and friends will be held at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (alzfdn.org) or to the Dementia Foundation of America (dementiasociety.org).
