Leona I. Schwalbach, 69, of Chillicothe, passed 2:05 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2023 in Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation following an extended illness.

She was born December 23, 1953, in Columbus, OH, to the late Virgil and Donna Stevens Smyers.  On May 30, 2012, she married Herman Schwalbach who survives.

Also surviving are sons, Billy (April) Waugh, of Hillsboro and Shane (Priscilla) Whitley, of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Sierra Whitley, Donald Whitley, Brandon Whitley, Shane Whitley, Jr. and Djinn Waugh; great grandchildren, Shane Whitley III and Parker Whitley; a brother, Walter (Vickie) Smyers, of Frankfort; nieces and nephews, Robert Queen, Dale Skaggs and Patty Skaggs; and many cousins.  She was predeceased by sister, Shirley Smyers and nephews, Charles Queen.

Leona had attended Salt Creek Valley Church.  She had worked at the former Circle Plastics.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2023 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Don Hutton officiating.  Burial will follow in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi, OH.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
