Obituary

On Sunday, April 5, 2026 at 2:50 p.m. Linda K. Rinehart went home to be with her Lord and Savior and her beloved family who preceded her in death. Christ was her constant companion who walked with her through her many trials in life.

Linda was born on October 25, 1942 to the late Florence R. Newland and Herman Johnson who proceeded her.

Also proceeding her in death was a brother, Roger Johnson; a sister, Connie Montgomery; brother-in-law, Tony Hummel and Raymond Montgomery, Sr. and beloved nephew, Raymond Montgomery, Jr.

She is survived by two children, who were the love of her life, James Dale (Sheryl) Rinehart and Teressa Lynn (Gig) Ritenour from her previous marriage to the late Dale Rinehart; three grandchildren, Paige Rinehart, Jordyn (Cody) Anderson and Wesley Ritenour; A great grandchild, Isaac Anderson; sister-in-law, Judy Johnson; a very special sister, Vickie Hummel, who stood by her through thick and thin!  All are of Chillicothe.

In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews to whom she was lovingly known as "Aunt Lucy."

Linda was deeply involved in her community, an active member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church, League of Women Voters, Ross County Historical Society, Ross County Humane Society, Ross County Senior Citizens, Ross County Tea Party, Silver Sneakers and S.A.L.T. (Senior Law Enforcement Together).

Anyone who knew Linda could attest to what a hard worker she was.  She took her first job at the age of 14 and was always known for her honesty, loyalty and dependability.  In addition, she owned and operated a day care for 24 years.  Her nurturing was not limited to just children.  She was a friend who you could count on in your time of need.

Linda touched many lives and leaves a very special legacy.  Not only did she love others, but that many others loved her.  Through it all there was one very special friend who always stood by her, Tina Rinehart.

She retired from Scioto Paint Valley Mental Health of Chillicothe, Ohio in 2019.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Leah Bolt and National Church Residence staff, administration, and the Hospice Care Team.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Aaron Hines officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
