Margaret Dempsey Barbee, arrived at a Jackson County Ohio Farm on November 30, 1936 to the home of the late Frank and Sarah Wildman Dempsey and departed at 11:36 a.m. on June 11, 2024, Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 87.  Also preceded in death by her husband, Russell H. Barbee, Sr., who she married on February 7, 1955; four brothers, Edgar, Oaklen, Charles and Carl; and two sisters, Margie Mayes and Marie Endicott; and a special brother-in-law, Walter Endicott.

She is survived by two sons, Russ (Melanie) Barbee and Frank Barbee; a daughter, Ruth (Frank) Ayyash, with whom she has made her home for several years; grandchildren, Kara Barbee, Amanda (Scott) Wilkins, Matt (Courtney) Barbee, Melissa Curry, Zane Ayyash and Zach Ayyash; great grandsons, Curtis Lovins, Alex Lovins Kaleb Curry, Garren Curry, and Ellis Maxwell Heck; a brother-in-law, Robert (Darlene) Barbee; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

She was a graduate of Jackson High School, in Jackson, Ohio, class of 1953 and was in the workforce for most of her adult life, first in retail sales and later in office work and retired from The Ohio State University Medical Center, Department of Communications in 2001.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your local elementary school.  The children are our future.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June, 21, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME, 121 W. 2nd Street Chillicothe, OH, with Rev. Bill Graves officiating.  Margaret will be laid to rest in Sigler Cemetery.  Family and friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20th or one hour prior to her funeral service on Friday.
