Marsha L. DuBois, 84, of Chillicothe, went to be with her Lord at 10:14 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026 in the Adena Regional Medical Center unexpectedly.

She was born January 11, 1942 to the late John F. and Irene E. Howerton Franz. On May 12, 1974, she married Jerry L. DuBois who died April 11, 2002.

Surviving are sons, Keith (Susan Jordan) DuBois, of Chillicothe, Barney (Billie) DuBois, of Chillicothe, Robbie (Rosa) DuBois, of Ashville and Jeff (Cheryl) DuBois, of Frankfort; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Ronnie (Sharon) Franz, of Chillicothe; many cousins including a special cousin, Delores Seymour, of Chillicothe; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her mother, Irene E. Hughes and father, John F. Franz.

Marsha was a strong, elegant, and beautiful woman whose life was defined by her independence, hard work, and, above all, her deep love for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, friend, and businesswoman. She was a lover of the watching the home shopping network, QVC, and football.

For many years, Marsha was a beloved hairstylist who worked out of her home. This allowed her to build a career while creating a home where her family came first. Later, she owned and operated DuBois Excavating, taking on a completely different kind of work. When her husband, Jerry wanted to retire Marsha helped him begin his next chapter by starting their own pawn shop. After Jerry’s passing, she continued to run the shop herself. She was intelligent, independent, and never afraid of hard work.

But as much as Marsha accomplished in her life, family was what mattered most to her. There was nothing she loved more than having her family together. She especially loved when her boys were home, and even more when they were all together. Those were the moments she treasured most, having her family around her, especially at the holidays with all of her beautiful Christmas lights.

Marsha loved fiercely, completely, and with her whole heart. Her greatest legacy is the love she instilled in her children and grandchildren. She gave them a love that will remain with them for the rest of their lives and she will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2026 in Little Mound Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the graveside service on Wednesday.
