Mary Alice Henness, 80, of Chillicothe, passed 8:20 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born August 21, 1943, in Pike County, to the late John and Delma Watters Bowman. On December 30, 1967, she married Lowell Gordon Henness who passed April 2, 2022.
Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey (Traci) Henness and Jerry (Lisa) Henness, both of Chillicothe; step daughters, Rhonda Hudnell and Jo Ellen (Richard) Tolle, both of Leesburg; grandchildren, Kelsey Henkle, Brandon Henkle, Derek (Haley) Henkle, Whitney (Trey) Rittenhouse, Olivia Henness, Hayden (Kaitlyn) Henness and Easton Henness; step grandchildren, Chris (Sarah) Riley, Kelli Henness Nobles, Jason (Brenda) Hudnell and Chrystal Hudnell; a great granddaughter, Laikynn Henkle; several step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Mark Henkle; a step son, Lowell Kelton "Kelly" Henness; and a sister, Carolyn Barnhart.
Mary was a 1961 graduate of Unioto High School. She was a life long member of Jefferson Avenue CCCU. Mary worked as a homemaker and diligently cared for her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Barnyard Believers Church with Pastor Craig Reichert officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort, OH. Family and friends may call at the Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
