Matheresa Lynn Showalter, 48, of New Holland, passed at 4:17 a.m. Monday, December 25, 2023 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born December 1, 1975, in Washington Court House, Ohio, to the late George Carey Sr. and Ruth Showalter.

Surviving are children, Heather (Jeremy Robinson) Palm, of Chillicothe, Cardia (Nathan) Carr, of New Holland, Breanna Hampp, of Chillicothe and Kenneth Hampp, Jr., of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Robert Joseph Palm, Jr., Jeremy Robinson, Jr., Jayahnna Robinson, Bentley James Queen, Kenleigh Queen, Michael T. Queen and Benjamin James Carr; 5 bonus grandchildren; a sister, Rebecca Showalter, of Athens; brothers, George Carey, of Athens, James Carey, of New Holland and Anthony (Amanda) Carey, of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2024 in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Beverly officiating.  Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the graveside service on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contribution can be made to the Ware Funeral Home.
