Oscar C. Rhoades, 87, of Chillicothe, passed at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, May 26, 2024 in National Church Residences, Chillicothe following an extended illness.

He was born January 3, 1937, in Clarksburg, Ohio, to the late Harold and Marquerite L. Tootle Rhoades.  On June 24, 1956, he married the former Carol Ann Lechner who passed on October 7, 2019.

Surviving are a son, Daniel (Cheryl) Rhoades, of Londonderry and a daughter, Katherine Rhoades, of Frankfort; grandchildren, Jeremy (Stacie) Rhoades, of Peachtree City, GA, Scotty (Chris) LaGard, of Frankfort, OH, and Kate (Michael) Aker, of Chillicothe, OH; great grandchildren, Heavyn Rhoades, Trinity Rhoades, Jeremy Rhoades Jr., Jacob LaGard, and Ava Aker; a great great grandson, Ashton Lewelling; step grandchildren, Jennifer Duffy and Michelle (Phil) Renault; step great grandchildren, Jaxson Smith, Jordyn Smith, Harper Smith, Stephanie Lauderman and Natalie Lauderman; brothers, Robert (Pearl) Rhoades, of Chillicothe and Jim (Jeanette) Rhoades, of Okahumpka, FL; sisters, Imogene Thomas, of Springfield, OH and Linda (Johnny) Stanley, of Olive Hill, KY; several nieces and nephews; and his long time friend, Carl Collins, of Chillicothe.

Oscar had worked for Gulf Oil from 1965 to 1975.  He was also the owner and operator of Rhoades Automotive having retired in 2014.  Oscar was a longtime member and had held several officer positions, including President, of the Ross County Sportsmen and Wildlife Association.  He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and especially loved to hunt morel mushrooms.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mark Gray officiating.  Visitation will be held in the WARE FUNERAL HOME one hour prior to the service on Friday.
