R. Keith Skaggs, 83, of Frankfort, passed at 5:29 a.m. Sunday, January 7, 2024 at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born April 22, 1940, in Chillicothe, to the late William P. and Ruby V. Farnham Skaggs.  On January 30, 1965, he married the former Brenda Fleming who survives.

In addition to his wife, surviving are brothers, David Skaggs, Lou (Ann) Skaggs, Kenneth (Jenny Seymour) Skaggs, and Wayne (Dianna) Skaggs, all of Chillicothe; sisters, Maxine (Calvin) Cochenour, of Bartow, FL, Nancy (Dale) Rhodes, of Gulfport, MS and Joy (Bryan) Martin, of Chillicothe; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by sisters, Elaine Long, Kathy Skaggs, Virginia Skaggs, Barbara Wilcox, Rosemary Harrison, and an infant brother, Robert.

Keith served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era.  He attended several local churches.  Keith retired from Horizon Chillicothe Telephone Co. where he had worked for 47 years.  Keith loved gardening and golfing with his 4 legged friend, Lucky.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Ryan Bevan officiating.  Burial will follow in Twin Township Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the United States Army and the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Family and friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME one hour prior to his funeral service on Saturday.
