Rita "Sue" Salyers, 85 of Chillicothe, OH passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on March 19, 2025. She was born on June 2, 1939 to Ray and Jessie (Jones) Bussey.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years James "Jim" Salyers. Children Mitch (Becky) Salyers, Mark Salyers (Carie), Michon (Jon) Ekvall, Matthew (Jane) Salyers. The light and loves of her life, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Courtney (Josh), Megan, Cody, Erica (Jimmy), Carly (Barry), Drake, Chloe, Kylah, Nolan and Mila!  Sister Eleanor (Bussey) Jadwin, twin brother Ted (Marty) Bussey, Sister-in-law Barbara Bussey and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as siblings, Jim, Ranie, Charles, Carl, Betty and Don.

Lovingly known as "Grammy Sue", she leaves behind a legacy of joy, faith and unconditional love. She believed every day was worth celebrating and made sure everyone around her felt special -whether through a kind word, a warm hug or a card in the mail (with exactly two dollars tucked inside).

She had a gift for spreading happiness. Her bright, colorful outfits and playful spirit lit up every room, and her famous phrase – "I love you little, I love you big, I love you like a big fat pig" – never failed to bring a smile. A talented piano player, she spent over 60 years playing hymns at her church, her favorite being "New Grace," a song she lived by through her unwavering faith.

She found joy in the simple things: decorating her home for every holiday, shopping for treasures at the Dollar Tree, and hosting family Christmases filled with laughter, presents, and so much love. Her deep faith guided her life and in her final days she looked forward to heaven with excitement, promising to turn cartwheels down the golden streets.

If you were loved by "Grammy Sue," you were truly blessed. Her legacy of joy, grace, and celebration will live on through her family and all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at United Freewill Baptist Church with her son, Pastor Mitchell Salyers officiating.  The family will receive friends and family from 11 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the Celebration of Life on Saturday.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
