Robert "Bob"
H. Konkler
d. Jul 25, 2025
Robert H. (Bob) Konkler, 76, passed away on July 25, 2025 after a brief hospital stay. Bob was born in 1949 in Lancaster, Ohio to Dolores June Konkler (Nabergoll) and Harold Konkler. He joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and served during the Vietnam conflict. Bob lived most recently in Reynoldsburg, Ohio and worked part-time at Costco Wholesale Easton, where he was known for his kindness, helpful nature and positive attitude. Bob's extraordinary approach to life in his later years was inspired by The Desiderata, written by Max Ehrmann.
Bob wed the love of his life, Barbara S. Konkler (Brewer) in Chillicothe on March 5, 1977. Bob and Barb were Realtors in Chillicothe for many years, and Chillicothe held a special place in their hearts. He and Barbara were members of Chillicothe Baptist Church.
Bob was a gifted musician, an orator, a philosopher, and a poet. He was kind, generous, and humble, and he kept us entertained. Our hearts are full with many memories of Bob at family gatherings, surrounded by family and friends, playing music and singing. Bob and Barb shared their gift for music by creating the award-winning gospel duet Witness II and performing for audiences across the country. After Barb's death in 2023, Bob volunteered his time and talents performing weekly for retirees living at Wesley Ridge in Reynoldsburg and Brookdale Muirfield in Dublin.
Bob is survived by his sister Cindy (Rick) Thompson of Thornville; children April Heather Konkler, of Chillicothe, Lloyd A. (Paula) Doss, of Frankfort, Melissa D. (Tony) Gutierrez, of Galena, and Whitney F. Ritz, of Chillicothe; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Bob was predeceased by a son, Frankie D. Slone, a daughter, Laurie Grey, and two granddaughters, Jessica Johnson and Kristin Doss.
Friends may call at WARE FUNERAL HOME in Chillicothe 10 am - 11 am Thursday, July 31. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday, July 31 at Forrest Memorial Park in Milton, WV with Bob's brother-in-law, Pastor Ronald Brewer officiating.
Bob will be deeply missed, but his warmth, generosity and spirit will not be forgotten. To share condolences with the family, you may sign Bob's online register at www.warefh.com
