Robert L. Strawser, 74, of Chillicothe, passed 8:20 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026.
He was born December 28, 1951, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late John L. and Elizabeth B. Browning Strawser.
Surviving are his longtime companion, Jane Irwin Downs, of Chillicothe; daughters, Amy (Henry) Vallette, Lori (Canon) Anderson and Julie Proctor; grandchildren, Josie and Henry IV Vallette, Simeon and Libby Anderson and Reid and Abbie Proctor; former wife and mother of his children, Diana Ramsey Strawser, all of Ross County; and a cousin, Michael Hamm, of Gallatin, TN. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son-in-law, Andrew Proctor and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bob was employed for over 35 years by various owners of the paper mill in the printing department and was also the mill photographer which led him to be co-owner of First Capital Printing for 15 years. After ending these careers, he worked part time for his life long friend, Gary Lynn Free at Mile Tree Screenprint.
Bob was a 1970 graduate of CHS and was in the marching band. He attended Ohio University – Athens. Bob was a member of several organizations including: Chillicothe Eagles Aerie 600 where he had earned lifelong membership, was secretary and one of the original founding members of VFW Post 108 Men’s Auxiliary which eventually combined with the Ladies to just become the Auxiliary. He also was a member of the Sons at both American Legion Post 62 and AMVETS Post 4.
Bob served as a 4-year Trustee at Chillicothe Elks Lodge 52, as involved with the Chillicothe Order of Masons and Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus. He reached the rank of Eagle Scout Simon Kenton Council as well as being a camp counselor.
He loved his dog “Bud” who currently is replaced by Katy, Sadie and Shady.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the various departments at Adena Health System and OSU who cared for him over many years.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2026 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Dr. Jason T. Link officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Adena Health Foundation - 9 South Paint Street -Chillicothe, Ohio 45601. Memo your contributions to “Adena Cancer Center”.
