Rodney R. Irvin, 91, of Chillicothe passed 6:35 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2026 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born May 25, 1935 in Chillicothe to Everett and Vallie V. (Bragg) Irvin. On July 12, 1955 he married the former Mary L. Zeisler who survives.

Also surviving are sons, Anthony (Tina) Irvin, of Jackson, James Irvin, of Bainbridge, Mark (Rebecca) Irvin, of Chillicothe, Jonathan Irvin, of Orient; a daughter, Amy Sutherland, of Chillicothe; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Larry Irvin, Chillicothe, Clark (Elaine) Irvin, of Bainbridge; a sister, Gayle Irvin, of Chillicothe, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Everett; mother, Vallie Matheney; an infant daughter, Julie Irvin, a daughter, Cynthia Allensworth; brothers, Everett, Jr., Ophrey, Elwin, Carroll, Marlin, and Dwight Irvin; sisters, Lucille Detty and Carlene Baker.

Rodney was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from the Mead Corporation. He was a member of the Calvery Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, his family and most of all his church and the Lord.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2026 in Springbank Cemetery with Pastor Rob Fowler officiating. Calling hours will not be observed. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
