Obituary

Roy Richards (Dick) Haddox of Lake White, Pike County, Ohio, passed from this life on July 21, 2026, following a brief illness. He was born to the late Effie (Richards) and Roy Haddox, in Chillicothe, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Pearson Russell Haddox; daughters, Tammy (Anthony) Eallonardo and Kimberly (John) Gragg; stepson, Michael Russell, of Virginia; three grandchildren, Rev. Jessica (Matthew) Warth, Jacob A. Caplinger and Jared (Hannah) Caplinger; seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was predeceased by stepson, Mark Russell, of Pike County, Ohio.

Throughout his life, Dick was a member of High Street Church of Christ in Christian Union and a founding member of Brookside Church, Chillicothe.

After graduation from Ohio State Barber College, he opened American Heritage Styling Salon in Central Center, where he enjoyed repeat clientele and community involvement for many years. His second career was spent in the shipping Department at Mead Paper, from which he later retired.

A licensed auctioneer, Haddox operated the Fair Exchange Auction House in French Town. He also owned a hobby shop where he manufactured wood scrolling and glass etchings, selling his merchandise at local flea markets.

He enjoyed camping, boating, jet-ski, rail buggies, westerns, and monthly visits with the “Pleasant Valley Kids,” but his favorite past-time was riding motorcycles.

Dick leaves behind a legacy of Christian faith to carry his children and grandchildren through their journey. We rest on the promise that we will see him again.

Funeral services will be held 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Brookside Church, 2215 Egypt Pike, Chillicothe, with Pastor Matt Steinbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service.
