Russell J. Elliott, Sr., 83, of Chillicothe, passed at 11:27 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024 in the Adena Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 31, 1940, in Ross County, Ohio, to the late Ray and Mary Grant Elliott.  On June 5, 1959, he married the former Maxine Colburn who survives.

In addition to his wife, surviving are children, Russell J. (Annette) Elliott, Jr., Kevin L. (Linda) Elliott, Barbara (Jeffrey) Jones, and Anthony (Carla) Elliott; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, William L. Elliott; brothers, Walter, Richard, and Earl Elliott; sisters, Esther Goldsberry, Bernice Bland, Mable Lauerman, Ethel Hyer, Alice Eliott, Ritha Wheeler, and Elsie Elliott.

Russell served in the United States Navy and retired from Keystone Trucking.  He was a member of AMVETS Post #4, American Legion Post #62,  F.O.E. Aerie 600 and Loyal Order of Moose 1626.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mike Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Visitation will be held in the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
