Ruth Kathleen "Kate" Caplinger, 88, of Chillicothe, went home to be with the Lord at 1:17 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2024 in the Adena Regional Medical Center unexpectedly.

She was born January 20, 1936, in Ross County, to the late Marion and Geraldine Cox Allen.  On July 6, 1960, she married Kenneth "Kenny" Caplinger who passed December 31, 1987.

Surviving are children, Ronald "Ron" (Jill) Caplinger, Pam (Steve) Gallagher, and Douglas (Debra) Caplinger, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Elizabeth Cydrus, Stephanie (Jerry) Tapp, Shad (Jenny) Caplinger, Dustin (Jenny) England, Rachelle Good, Kirstin (Brandyn) Hatmacher, Lauren (Christian) Snyder, Dawson Cook, and Jason Gallagher; many great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters.

Kate was a graduate of Centralia High School.  She retired from Kenworth and had also worked at GE in Circleville.  Kate enjoyed bowling and bowled in the Shawnee Ladies Bowling League.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held in the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
