Ruth C. Rice, 100, of Chillicothe, passed at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at Copper Knoll Nursing Home, Washington Court House following an extended illness.

She was born April 24, 1926, in Londonderry, to the late Erk D. and Osie Bethel Cutright. On June 3, 1945, she married Jackson C. Rice who preceded her April 19, 1994.

Surviving are children, Kendall (Maureen) Rice, of Chillicothe and Suzanne McWhite, of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Travis (Betty Rae) Rice, of Chillicothe, Todd (Anna) McWhite, Andy (Sara) Rice, of Knoxville, TN and Jennifer (Brian) Clinckscales, of Iva, SC; great grandchildren, Mikah McKinnis, Garrett McWhite, Katie Maney, Abbey Clinckscales, Madison Clinckscales, Jacob Rice and Henry Rice; many great great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jocele Cutright, of Mt. Orab, OH; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Cutright and a sister, Mary Corrigan.

Ruth was a charter member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church where she was a life long member. She was a 1943 graduate of Unioto High School and was a member of the Unioto Alumni Association. In 1990, Ruth retired from the Chillicothe Telephone Company where she had worked for 32 years.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2026 in Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with Pastor Brett Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
