Obituary

Sheila Madden, 88, of Columbus, was born November 24, 1935 in Glasgow, Scotland.  She formerly lived in Chillicothe and Columbus, Ohio.  Sheila passed peacefully at 4:50 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024 at Darby Glen Nursing Home in Hilliard, Ohio.

Surviving are her three daughters, Colleen Block Benjamin, her husband Jeff Benjamin, of Florida and Colorado, Heather Madden, of Columbus, Ohio and Maureen Madden, of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren: Alexandra "Alex" Madden-Beatley and Vicotria "Tori" Madden-Beatley Edwards, her husband Sheldon Edwards, Blair Madden, Alexis Madden, Sean Madden and Don Madden; and sisters-in-law, Madelyn (Madden) Good and Vikki (Madden) Hodge.  She was predeceased by her former husband and father of her children, Donald Madden; mother, Margaret Whitelow McLachlan; father, James McLachlan; maternal grandfather and grandmother, John and Elizabeth Goudie; brother-in-law, Michael Madden and dear friend, Anne MacLean from Scotland.

Sheila was part owner and operator of the Ko Sutemi Seiei Kan Dojo; and served as Secretary for the National A.A.U. Karate Martial Arts Association.  Sheila was a Black Belt in Karate through the Ko Sutemi Seiei Kan.  She was part owner and operator of Schmidt's Sausage Haus of Chillicothe with her former husband, Donald Madden.  Sheila was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Chillicothe and had also attended the Worthington Presbyterian Church.  She had worked as a Bookkeeper, Secretary, Computer Operator Supervisor and Proof Operator for many local businesses.  Sheila enjoyed riding her bicycle in TOSRV, traveling the world, shopping, playing bridge, fine dining, wine tastings, tv show, movies and supporting her children and grandchildren in all of their sports and hobbies.

A celebration of her life will be held Friday, March 15th at the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Lynn Summers officiating.  Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 3 – 4 p.m., service starting at 4 p.m., then a procession to Grandview Cemetery.  Afterwards we will be celebrating Sheila's life with friends, family, good food and drinks with a great Scottish Whiskey.  Details to be announced at the service.
