Stephen S. Davis, 86, of Chillicothe, passed 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born February 22, 1937, in Pike County, Ohio.  On April 15, 1967, he married the former Connie L. Fraley who passed April 20, 2007.

Surviving are a son Jarrod (Dawn) Davis, of Jackson; a grandson, David (Shelby) Jones, of Maine; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa Jones; a grandson, R.J. Jones; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Stephen was a 1955 graduate of Clarksburg High School.  He served overseas in Germany in the United States Army's 10th Mountain Division during the German Occupation Period.  He retired in 1997 from Mead Paper where he had worked for many years.  Stephen was a member of the American Legion Post 757.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2023 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Family and friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.
