Stuart W. Orem, 68, of Chillicothe, passed 9:08 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023 at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born November 25, 1954, in Louisville, KY, to Edwin T. and Nina James Orem, both whom currently live in Paintsville, KY.  On May 14, 1983, he married the former Rebecca Stander who survives.

In addition to his wife and parents, surviving are his children, Jennifer (Chuck) Miller, of Chillicothe, Dusty (Kevin) Whitaker, of Frankfort, KY, Tonya (Andy) Salyers, of Ashland, KY, Kevin Smith, of Huston, TX, Jeremy (Jojo) Orem, of Georgetown, KY, and Torie (Jeff) Brown, of Waverly, OH; grandchildren, Evan Miller, Faith Miller, Meadow Whitaker, Jackson Whitaker, Samuel Salyers, Sarai Salyers, Anna Salyers, Kaden Smith, Brady Orem, Isabella Orem, Raelynn Orem, Jeramiah Orem, Silas Orem, and Willow Orem; brothers, Mike (Nancy) Orem, of Paintsville, KY and Gary (Carolyn) Orem, of Georgia; a sister, Denise Orem, of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Stuart was a member of the First Assembly of God in Chillicothe.  He was the first Wal-Mart Store Manager in Chillicothe when it opened in 1996.  Stuart was at the Chillicothe store for 7years before he was transferred to Manage the Washington Court House Wal-Mart Supercenter where he had worked for many years.

He spent many hours giving back to the local community he lived and worked in.  Each year Stuart was given grant money from his employer, Walmart, to distribute to members of the community who were in need.  He was a humanitarian who gave himself and his energy into the community with those grant funds.  He distributed those funds to Shop with a Cop, local schools, several churches, teachers, and many more.  Stuart was a wonderful father and grandfather who doted on this family.  He was happiest when surrounded by his wife, kids and grandchildren.  Whether it was a holiday, vacation or just a relaxing day on the boat, he always loved having them around.  He was an avid UK Wildcat fan, whose blood ran blue since a young child.  Stuart will always be remembered for his sharp mind, kind heart and his passion for his family and community in life.
