Susan D. Smalley, 63, of Hillsboro, passed Friday, February 23, 2024 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born February 14, 1961, in Chillicothe, to the late Harry and Marilyn Steinbrook Sommers.

Surviving are a brother, David Sommers; sisters, Joy (Joe) Wilt, Vickie Patton and Janice (Larry) Brown; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful companions, her dogs, Mamma Boots and Buddy.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Luther Smalley; brothers, Larry, Don and Mark Sommers; and a sister, Kim Sommers.

Susan worked as a Purchaser for the Adena Hospitals.

A celebration of her life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2024 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME where her family and friends will be asked to share their memories.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
