Vicky Gay Hand died peacefully on June 22, 2026 at Traditions of Chillicothe. She was born on October 19, 1944 to Anna C. Bannon Hand and Ronald Leroy Hand. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers Ronald, Thomas, and Richard; and a sister Peggy. She is survived by special nephews and nieces Robin Hand, Mary Dick, Beth Milan, Paula Doss, and Tommy Hand; and special friend Betsy Beaver.
Vicky was a proud graduate of Chillicothe High School and enjoyed getting together with her friends from the class of 62. She attended Ohio University and obtained a business degree. She retired after 35 years of serving various city, county, and state agencies as an auditor. Her last position was with Waverly City Schools as their Treasurer. Vicky enjoyed her career and all the people she met along the way.
History and Genealogy were important to Vicky. She was a member of both the Ross County and Pickaway County Genealogy Societies. She was always eager to help others trace their families and explore their heritage. She was a member of the Historic Rock Ford Plantation in Lancaster PA, home of her 4th generation grandfather, Revolutionary War Adjunct General Edward Hand. Vicky was a long-time member of the Nathaniel Massie Chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution.
Vicky lived life to the fullest - playing City League Softball and Volleyball for many years. She enjoyed traveling to tournaments and was known as a powerful hitter, bowling and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and Kansas City Chiefs fan. She had many good friends. The loves of Vicky's life were her precious Yorkie dogs, Smudge, Annie, Nuggie and Zoe. They were her constant companions.
Vicky was a longtime member of Tyler Memorial Methodist Church. She made a decision to accept Jesus Christ. During the last year, Vicky relied on His strength and promises to carry her through her physical struggles. Her family rejoices in knowing she is with her Savior Jesus Christ.
The family would like to thank the staff at Traditions for their kindness and care.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2026 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Chirs Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.
