Barbara Smith

Barbara C. Smith, 90, of Chillicothe passed 11:55 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2025 at her residence.

   She was born February 26, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Joseph and Cecelia (Franco) Miller. On October 31, 1953 she married Donald M. Smith who preceded her in death on March 26, 1979.

   Surviving are daughters, Kim (Anthony) Lamanac, of Woodstock, GA., Julie (Rob) Connely, of Woodstock, GA., Elaine True, of Marietta, GA.; a daughter-in-law, Traci Smith, of Denver, CO.; grandchildren, Nikolas Victor, Ian Victor, Patrick True, Erika True, Morgan Connely, Sophie Smith and Emma Smith; a sister, Cecelia (Tony) Schiano, of Naples, FL. and special friends, Doug and Mary McCord.  And several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Kevin Smith.

   Barbara was a member of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church where she was involved with the Parish Council, Bishop Flaget School Board, Education Committee, St. Vincint de Paul Society and had worked in the office for 12 ½ years. She was also involved with the United Way, ALTRUSA, and the Thrift Shop. Activities she enjoyed were sketching, clay sculpture, fabric painting, bowling league for many years, doing crosswords every day, bird watching, reading, and visiting historical places with her sister, Cecelia. She was also quite the history buff. She loved all wild critters and animals, especially cats and dogs. But most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren from the cradle to adulthood.

   Mass of Chirstian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 in St. Peter’s Church with Father Jacob Stinnett, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church from 10-11 a.m. on Friday. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
