Obituary

“And God will raise you up on eagles’ wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of His hand…” - Based on Psalm 91

Our beloved wife and mother, Barbara S. Konkler, left this earth to join her heavenly Father at 11:51 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Formerly of Chillicothe, Barb and her husband Bob lived most recently in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

Barb was affectionately called ‘Bootsie’ by family and friends. She was born May 15, 1940, in Pikeville, KY to the late Foster and Daphne G. Wolfe Brewer. Barbara is survived by the love of her life, Robert H. Konkler, whom she wed in Chillicothe on March 5, 1977.

Also surviving are children, Lloyd A. (Paula) Doss, of Frankfort, OH, Melissa D. (Tony) Gutierrez, of Galena, OH and Whitney F. Ritz, of Chillicothe, OH; grandchildren Jennifer Henson, Kelly Racer, Nicholas (Bethany) Doss, Kristin Doss Miller, Gregory Gammon, Jr., Zachary Gammon, Joshua Gutierrez, Kayla (Kenny) Alvarado, Michael Ritz, Sheridan Ritz and Matthew Ritz; a brother, Ronald (Beverly) Brewer, of Hurricane, WV; and a niece, Leigh-Ann Brewer-Henderson, of Milton, WV; 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew. She was predeceased by a son, Frankie D. Slone and a granddaughter, Jessica Johnson.

Barbara was a Realtor in Chillicothe for many years, and was honored as a recipient of the Million Dollar Roundtable on several occasions. Barb was appointed Vice President of Contour Development and helped to bring the vision of Governor’s Place (Western Avenue) to life. Real estate was Barb’s life’s work; she excelled at helping so many families find the home of their dreams, and Chillicothe held a special place in her heart. Barb was a dreamer, a visionary, an artist, and a force to be reckoned with. She really knew how to host a party, whether for corporate clients or family and friends. Barb and Bob were members of Chillicothe Baptist Church, and they shared their gift for music by creating the award-winning gospel duet Witness II and performing for audiences across the country.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Barbara’s brother, Pastor Ronald Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Cemetery, in Milton, WV. Friends may call at the WARE FUNERAL HOME from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
